About the role

The role-holder will be joining a small team within a broader Environmental tax team and so will be able to take on responsibility early, with real prospects for quick progression, while enjoying the support of a team of around 18 permanent members.  The team's clients include household names and FTSE 100 multinationals, with the role holder expected to have client contact from Day 1.  

The team also focuses on emerging regulation, and staying ahead of the market, making it an exciting and modern place to work, with a fast-paced and entrepreneurial atmosphere.  This approach, and the team's agility, also means that ideas are welcomed from all grades, and there is the opportunity to develop your practice and suggest new offerings at a relatively junior level. What your days will look like

  • Giving detailed legal advice, and commercial/strategic advice, on a range of emerging Sustainability laws, with an environmental focus.

  • Managing project progress, deliverables, and internal and external stakeholders

  • Giving presentations and supporting with business development activities including pitches and proposals

  • Upskilling themselves and other team members of emerging legislation

  • Managing trainees and cross-functional teams within PwC

  • Conducting legal research

This role is for you if

  • UK [or EU] qualified lawyer (1-6 PQE)

  • Specific subject matter expertise in Environmental and Sustainability Regulation.

  • Experience advising on CSRD and CSDDD, as well as wider aspects of the EU’s Green Deal

  • Familiarity with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)

  • Experience working with broader “E” of “ESG” / Sustainability regulations in the UK and EU such as Extended Producer Responsibility, Single Use Plastics, Greenwashing prevention, Ecodesign and Deforestation laws.

  • Self-starter willing to upskill quickly on emerging regulation.

  • Experience advising on global or Europe-wide projects, as well as giving legal advice on domestic law in the UK.

  • Excellent project management skills and experience leading workstreams with a degree of independence appropriate to/ahead of PQE
