About the role:
PwC’s Partner Office is a dedicated inhouse team that supports the UK partnership and the partners in it in relation to various matters such as income, performance, tax, benefits, development and career transition. Partner Office’s Financial Planning team assists PwC’s current partners with financial planning matters (generic guidance only; not specific regulated advice).
This includes:
- Helping partners navigate the financial planning landscape (from getting the basics right through to how to choose a regulated adviser or benchmarking their incumbent adviser);
- Creating and updating personal cash flow models;
- Understanding and articulating pension rules;
- Understanding and articulating the tax treatments of other savings and investment vehicles/wrappers;
- Understanding the nature of investment strategies;
- Liaising with the external adviser community (principally those who have the greatest footprint amongst PwC partners);
- Being aware of PwC’s audit independence issues as they relate to partners and their immediate family members, and liaising with PwC Independence Team to help partners to resolve issues as required.
What your days will look like:
Reporting to the Director responsible for Tax and Financial Planning, you would be an integral part of the Tax and Financial Planning team, providing financial planning guidance to partners. You would also provide financial planning expertise in respect of governance of the PwC Partner SIPP and investment platform, on a range of Partner Development programmes and at former partner events.
Your day would include:
- 1:1 meetings with a portfolio of partners (and spouses where requested by the partner) providing guidance and actionable follow-up;
- Presenting on a range of Partner Development programmes/workshops;
- Keeping up to date with the advisers acting for PwC partners, their propositions, fees and audit independence position;
- Training/developing more junior members of the Financial Planning team;
- liaising with the Head of Partner Office and other committees of PwC’s Board for financial planning initiatives (including procurement of new vendors or development of technology) as needed.
This role is for you if:
- Have extensive experience of UK financial planning matters (pensions and other tax-efficient wrappers, collective investments, investment strategies etc);
- Have formal professional accreditation and/or robust training and expertise in relevant areas;
- Have working knowledge of UK personal tax (income, capital gains and inheritance tax);
- Can navigate correctly the line between non-regulated guidance and specific regulated advice;
- Are comfortable working in an environment where risk needs to be identified and mitigated;
- Have confidence in building and maintaining relationships and an ability to work closely with partners in the firm;
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills so as to respond clearly and professionally to sensitive partner matters whether face-to-face, by phone or by email;
- Have a strong awareness of the need to maintain confidentiality, compliance with the professional Code of Ethics and deal sensitively with dilemmas as they arise.
What you’ll receive from us:
No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.
We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
