About the role:

We are looking for people who are interested in learning about the services we provide and are self-starting, agile and thrive on bringing previous experience to new and diverse challenges. They are happy to work as individuals or as part of multi-disciplinary teams to provide hands-on support to our clients in the Financial Services area around accounting advisory, governance risk and controls as well as critical business change. These client facing services can be in the form of consulting advice, implementation support or review and recommend reports.

Within Insurance CFO and Risk Advisory, we have a number of different sub propositions that you will work across.

What your days will look like:

If you’re successful you’ll undertake work which includes:

  • Delivering client facing internal control and finance transformation projects, engaging with client stakeholders on a day to day basis and preparing high quality deliverables

  • Working in teams to deliver engagements, including monitoring engagement progress and budget

  • Acting as a financial controls / SOx / ICFR subject matter expert for clients and internal stakeholders on projects

  • Liaising with other PwC specialists (e.g. Risk Modelling, Regulation and IT specialists) to provide an integrated service to our clients

  • Support our clients with financial risk and controls programmes, including process and controls design, transformation and optimisation, so they achieve their broader business objectives safely (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOx) and Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework implementation or enhancement, controls optimisation, etc.).

  • Support our clients with the delivery of their finance change and transformation programme and any change programme driven by organisational change, new reporting standards or the need to improve their financial reporting function (e.g. implementation of new accounting standards, GAAP conversions, Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTIs), reporting rationalisation projects, etc).

This role is for you if you are:

An ambitious and enthusiastic member of the team, with the ability to communicate with people from a range of backgrounds at any level or grade. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, who can think on their feet, and apply their knowledge in a fast moving working environment.

You will receive appropriate training and coaching for the engagements that you will undertake. The role will provide you with experience of working with Financial Services clients, where you can demonstrate your understanding of finance, accounting and financial controls. For the right individual, the role provides an outstanding opportunity to progress, develop and be rewarded for achievement as part of a successful and growing part of the PwC business.

  • Possess a chartered or certified accountancy qualification (ACA or international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home country.

  • Technical experience and practical knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and/or US GAAP, and an interest in developing this knowledge further (e.g. audit or financial reporting experience)

  • A strong understanding of SOx compliance requirements and financial controls best practice, (e.g. as part of designing, implementing or testing controls in an audit or non-audit capacity)

  • Possession of strong team working and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team and under your own initiative

  • Demonstrable experience of working on multiple projects, managing your time effectively to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines;

  • Technical financial services knowledge, including an understanding of the Insurance and Asset Management.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
