JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role

The Partner Office Partner Tax team (18 in total) is looking to recruit an Associate.  This is a permanent contract with the opportunity for supported study for the ATT and CTA qualifications once the applicant has proved their suitability.

The team deals with the tax affairs of all partners of the firm, approximately 1,000 in total. Although the majority of the work is compliance based regarding the completion of partners’ annual tax returns, there are also ad hoc queries on other tax matters covering capital gains tax as well as income tax, and financial reviews e.g. pension relief calculations, EIS deferrals and other elections.

What your days will look like:

  • Preparation of partners’ tax returns, ensuring tax data inputs are accurate

  • Preparing and collating information/materials for review by senior members of the team

  • Monitoring own allocation of work including timetables and action lists

  • Taking appropriate actions to ensure deadlines are met and suggesting solutions to issues encountered

  • Undertaking administrative tasks within our online filing system (AODocs) ensuring Engagement Libraries are maintained in accordance with appropriate filing protocols and all emails and other documents are filed correctly on a timely basis

  • Attending team meetings, following up actions where appropriate and supporting assigned team by carrying out ad-hoc administrative duties that may vary on a day to day basis.

This role is for you if:

  • Good numeric and analytical skills, proactive, self motivated, taking responsibility for own work

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able to respond clearly and professionally to partners’ queries whether face to face, by phone or by email

  • Excellent IT skills, in particular Excel, Google and Googlesheets/docs

  • Demonstrate integrity: strong awareness of the need to maintain confidentiality and awareness of risk

  • Ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change

  • Strong team player, able to work effectively with diverse clients and be passionate about excellent client service – focus on the experience from the partner’s point of view.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
