About the role

We are hiring for a new Capital Allowances Manager role within our PE Portfolio Tax team, focusing on tax advisory for Private Equity-backed businesses. This position offers significant career growth, working on complex projects for multinational clients, start-ups, and private equity firms. Reporting to a Director and supported by the Head of Capital Allowances, you'll play a crucial role in business development and delivery. Understanding PE structures is beneficial. The role also involves expanding into real estate tax areas like VAT and SDLT. Comprehensive training and support are provided in a collaborative environment, ensuring a broad learning experience across tax specialisms.

What your days will look like:

  • Lead and manage a growing team providing capital allowances advisory services to PE portfolio company clients.

  • Deliver customized capital allowances advice related to PE portfolio company transactions, including due diligence and tax documentation.

  • Provide detailed capital allowances advice on diverse projects, with experience in s.562 CAA 2001 apportionments preferred.

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and junior team members, offering proactive and innovative tax services.

  • Collaborate with specialists from other tax areas, including transaction services and international teams.

  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities with new and existing clients.

  • Develop strategies to address complex technical challenges using extensive technical knowledge and experience.

The role is for you if:

  • Must possess an ACA/CTA Qualification (or an international equivalent)

  • Expertise in UK capital allowances and awareness of other taxes like VAT and employment taxes.

  • Transaction experience is a plus, though not required.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships and networks.

  • Strong communication skills, with experience in negotiation and influence.

  • Excellent analytical, project management, and report writing skills

  • Ability to apply tax technical knowledge in commercial settings.

  • Understanding of Private Equity structures is beneficial, but not essential.
