About the role
The Deals Line of Service at PwC comprises four business units with an annual turnover exceeding £800 million. These units offer a range of products and services, helping clients create, realize, and protect value during mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, divestitures, or crisis situations. With approximately 220 partners and over 2,000 staff, Deals is one of PwC’s most diverse areas.
We are seeking a candidate to join our dynamic and forward-thinking finance team. This role blends rigorous financial control with broad business partnering activities, crucial for driving the business forward. The ideal candidate should have solid experience in finance business partnering and revenue recognition, combining financial accounting skills with strategic business insights. They will play a pivotal role in providing financial oversight and strategic guidance, ensuring the business's continued growth and success. The candidate should possess strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders.
This position requires someone who is proactive, adaptable, and able to navigate the complexities of a diverse and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will not only manage financial processes but also contribute to strategic decision-making, helping to shape the future direction of the Deals Line of Service. Key Responsibilities
- Business Partnering: Provide financial guidance and support to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the firm's standards, ethics, and broader business goals.
- Financial Planning & Decision Support: Deliver detailed financial forecasting, planning, and budgeting while supporting strategic financial decisions across key initiatives.
- Revenue Recognition: Ensure compliance with IFRS 15 by critically assessing contracts and revenue recognition practices, and challenge senior stakeholders to adhere to standards and provide insights.
- Performance Management & Insight: Monitor key financial performance indicators and provide actionable insights that align with strategic business objectives.
- Working Capital Management: Lead practices in billing efficiency and cash management to enhance working capital and reduce Investment in Client (IIC) risk.
- Financial Control & Governance: Ensure compliance with accounting policies and advise on contract structuring and financial controls during bid reviews.
- Projects & Collaboration: Integrate financial expertise into the execution of projects and initiatives across deals, collaborating with other finance and operational teams.
- Team Development & Coaching: Mentor junior team members, fostering continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.
The skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Financial Governance: Experience in financial governance and month-end/year-end processes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an independent mindset, able to challenge senior stakeholders.
- Audit Experience: Experience with external audit processes.
- Tech Proficiency: Proficient in using technology and management information (MI) to identify risks and improve reporting/processes.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with key stakeholders.
- AI Interest: Experience or interest in using AI tools for financial analysis and decision-making.
- IFRS 15 Knowledge: Requires experience in IFRS 15, though not deep specialization.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn and adapt quickly, especially in a fast-paced environment, ideally within a professional services firm.
